Firing a fresh salvo at the Sheila Dikshit-led Congress government in Delhi, state unit BJP chief Vijay Goel said he was ready to share his "power tariff reduction formula" if the Congress government agreed to implement it.

"Why the chief minister has never called an all-party meeting over crucial issues like power, water and law and order situation? We are ready to share our power tariff-reduction formula but is the Congress government ready to implement it?" Goel asked.

He reiterated that the BJP was committed to bringing down electricity tariff by 30% if elected to power.

He added that the party was ready with its 10-point formula for reducing existing power tariff by at least 30%.

The party has also set up another expert group which is working on a blueprint to ensure safety for citizens, especially women, in the city.

These plans will be implemented with immediate effect when BJP comes to power in Delhi, Goel said.

He said the BJP’s plan included bringing more players into power distribution sector as this would end the monopoly of the existing companies, and authorising CAG to audit discoms.

"Why has the chief minister not taken above two steps? I am sure to bring down power tariff what is required is not a magic wand but an honesty wand and that seems to be missing in the chief minister’s case," he added.

Goel said it was not the Opposition that had defamed the Delhi government. It was rather defamed by the ‘poor’ law and order situation resulting in the city bearing the tag of the "rape capital".

Dikshit had made light of the BJP’s assurance of reducing electricity tariff and had asked the party to give her the "magic wand" so that the rates could be brought down.
