The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) demanded the resignation of Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit over the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) report that pointed out lack of planning, monitoring and lacunae in implementation of programmes across departments.
The CAG report for 2011-2012, which was tabled in the Delhi Assembly on Tuesday, mentioned that poor implementation of programmes caused “huge losses to the state exchequer”.
“All our allegations proved to be true with this report. The Delhi government has looted and cheated people,” Delhi BJP president Vijay Goel said at a press conference.
“This government has done nothing for the common man. It (the CAG report) has brought to fore issues that the BJP has been raising for years. Sheila Dikshit should resign from the chief minister’s post owning moral responsibility,” he said.
“A case of criminal negligence can be made against Dikshit and we will talk to our lawyers regarding this,” Goel added.
Leader of the Opposition in Delhi Assembly, Vijay Kumar Malhotra, said after the charges made in the CAG report on the rampant corruption in every department of Delhi government, gross irregularities, connivance with companies and contractors and criminal negligence, Sheila Dikshit and her government should immediately resign.
“The government intentionally placed such an important report before the House on the last day and the last hour of the assembly session so that no discussion could take place in the House,” Malhotra said.
