Several states were put on a high security alert on Friday with deployment of additional forces in and around key installations and religious places in the wake of the terror attacks in Bangalore.
Andhra Pradesh was put on high alert with security beefed up particularly in Hyderabad and special police teams posted at vulnerable places.
Fourteen thousand police personnel have been deployed across Chennai and patrolling was intensfied in the IT corridor where a large number of IT companies are located.
A Mumbai report said security was tightened at strategic installations in the city including Bhaba Atomic Research Centre, Commissioner of Police Hasan Gafoor said.
Entry and exit points to the city like airports, railway stations and other locations have been provided with additional security and more policemen are moving on the streets of Mumbai, he said.
Uttar Pradesh police issued a statewide alert and ordered stepped-up vigil at sensitive and crowded places including temples, mosques, railway and bus stations, shopping malls, multiplexes in the wake of the serial blasts in Bangalore.
