Hours after his arrest for allegedly hitting two men in his BMW, 19-year-old management student Utsav Bhasin was out on the streets.

Bhasin’s car hit two men near the Moolchand Hospital early Thursday. The police arrested him from the inter-state bus terminus waiting to board a bus to Chandigarh on Friday morning.

The Punjabi Bagh resident told the police that the motorcyclist suddenly appeared in front of him. “I was not at fault,” he claimed.

But an eyewitness told HT Bhasin’s BMW hit the bike at high speed and he fled the spot without bothering about the victims.

“I heard a loud thud. The car had hit two men. A couple came out of the BMW and got into a Honda City tailing them. I stopped the man and told him aapne to inhe maar diya(you killed them). He said Accha wo mar gaye kya ? and fled,” said Om Vir, a call centre cab driver, who happened to be at the spot.
