A day after a collection agent was shot at and robbed amid high security in the sensitive Mandir Marg area of New Delhi on Friday, a 30-year-old man's body was found inside the adjacent high security North Avenue on Saturday.
Police said Akbar Mohammed was found dead in a park opposite the Member of Parliaments (MP) club in the MP canteen compound at North Avenue around 7.45 this morning.
"We were informed about the body by morning walkers," said a senior police officer.
Police said he had strangulation marks on his neck.
"There are no other visible external injuries on his body except the strangulation marks. We suspect he was killed elsewhere and his body was dumped here."
Police said Mohammad was a tailor and lived in a car garage in the North Avenue quarters. He was from Madhubani district in Bihar.
Police said the victim was last seen alive around 11 pm on Friday. His friends also told the police that his cell phone was also switched on around 11 and after that it was switched off.
