The Delhi Police have bought bomb detectors and minesweepers for its bomb disposal squads in the city.

The police also have more bomb blankets and safety rings, which are used to reduce the impact of the bombs.

The blanket is placed around the bomb and then fitted with a safety ring. It reduces the chances of shrapnel injuries. Nine of these bomb blankets, each costing Rs 25,000, each are being procured.

Each police district in the city has around 28 of these blankets.

All these equipment are being procured to boost the bomb disposal capabilities in the city.

The police have also bought portable x-ray baggage inspection system and portable fibro scope system (with hand held video monitor).

Mine detectors are metal detectors using electromagnetic induction techniques based on either continuous wave or pulse induction principle.
