Expressing dissatisfaction over the 'casual and callous' approach of police in the investigation of disappearance of a mentally retarded boy, the Madras High Court has directed Tamil Nadu crime branch-CID take up the case immediately.
A Division Bench, comprising Justices Elipe Dharma Rao and R Subbiah, told the CB-CID to take all steps necessary to find out 10-year-old Rajesh missing since July last year from a private school, and produce him before the court at the earliest, preferably within three months.
"We are totally dissatisfied with the manner in which the the Thiruvannamalai district police has been conducting the investigation in the case, wherein a mentally retarded boy is missing," the Bench said.
The casual manner in which the matter had been dealt with "has very much disturbed us", it said.
The Judges directed the Thiruvannamalai District SP to monitor the 'smooth' transfer of the case to CB-CID within a week.
