The police is interrogating Sujeet's family members and friends to get a clue about his whereabouts. The accused, a Class 11 student of Sarvodaya Bal Vidyalaya, Mandawali, stabbed his minor sister at their house in east Delhi's West Vinod Nagar late on Monday night. The incident happened after the victim was brought home from her boyfriend's house, where she had gone to meet him.

A senior investigator said that the questioning of Sujeet's family members has revealed that the accused is very temperamental and on various occasions, he turned violent over petty issues.

"The family said that Sujeet used to shout at his father and elder siblings. On Monday too, while other family members were trying to counsel the girl, Sujeet was restlessly pacing up and down. Without realising the consequences of his act, the accused, in a fit of rage, stabbed his sister in the abdomen with a kitchen knife," said the investigating officer. Though the police have ruled out any involvement of other family members in the girl's murder, investigators are questioning them to know why no one from the family informed the police about the incident.

The police were informed about the incident around 1 am on Tuesday, more than 90 minutes after the girl was stabbed. Investigators are of the opinion that had the family informed the police on time, Sujeet could have been nabbed easily. Police believe that the family wanted to shield the accused.
