A 17-year-old student was stabbed to death by two juveniles while returning home, seemingly in reaction to reprimanding one of the assailants for teasing his sister, in southeast Delhi on Friday afternoon, police said.
Police said the victim, Vijay Kumar (name changed), a student of Class 11 at a local government school, was stabbed with an ice-pick near a park in the Pul Prahladpur area, around 2.30 pm.
"Vijay was on his way to his house near the Mittal Chowk, when the accused intercepted and attacked him. A case, based on the statements of his parents, has been registered," said a senior police officer.
According to his parents’ statement, police said, one of Vijay’s sisters had been teased by one of the suspected assailants three months ago. She had complained to Sanjay, who had then reprimanded the boy.
One of the four children of a labourer, Kumar has two sisters and a younger brother.
"They stabbed him thrice – on the right and left sides of his chest and his thigh, before fleeing, leaving him in a pool of his own blood. Onlookers alerted the police control room and a team from the local police station reached the spot subsequently" said the officer.
