His cab did not even have a Global Positioning System (GPS) as was prescribed by the Delhi Police.

The police also plan to book the BPO firm in the case for not sticking to the Section-144 order passed by the Delhi Police after a spate of heinous gang rapes in the Capital.

The west Delhi police in the Janakpuri area arrested cab driver Jag Dev, a resident of Vikas Nagar on Monday.

"The driver, who was in an Innova, was engaged by a multinational call centre in Cyber City DLF Phase 2 for dropping BPO staffers. He dropped the girl last and that, too, not in

front of her house but a traffic intersection," V Renganathan, deputy commissioner of police (west).

The police said he dropped the girl alone at Uttam Nagar Chowk and started picking passengers from there.

"Our patrol vehicles routinely check all call centre vehicles to see that they are doing their job properly. The team intercepted the vehicle and questioned the driver," the DCP said.

On checking, the police said that no GPS device was found fitted in the car. He was arrested for the violation of Section 144 CrPC and booked for disobedience of order duly promulgated by public servant.

After the recent spate of rapes, the police had issued orders for all BPO firms in the NCR region. A set of guidelines was given out that had to be followed by them for the safety of their women employees.
