The incident comes as a shocker as the airline was not following Delhi police’s guidelines that clearly state that a female employee should be accompanied by a security guard during odd hours. The employee was alone and the driver stopped the car at the northern access road and tried to molest her around midnight.

The girl was picked from Dwarka by driver Jitender Singh who was to drop her at T3. “On the way to airport around 00.05am, the driver slowed the cab near the post office and pounced on me,” the girl said in her complaint. The victim resisted and asked the driver to stop the cab but he didn’t. The girl raised an alarm and called her duty manager.

“There was a picket nearby and the girl informed the staff present there. The driver Jitender has been arrested and a case of molestation has been registered against him,” RA Sanjeev, DCP (airport) said.

A senior Delhi police officer said the incident raised the question of safety of women who have to travel during odd hours.

After the Dhaula Kuan gang rape, Delhi police had issued guidelines to corporate companies asking them to depute a security guard in the cab if a woman was travelling alone.

“The guideline was clearly violated in this case as the woman was picked around 11pm and was molested after midnight. The driver didn’t have any fear as she was alone and the road is also an isolated one,” the officer said. Delhi police said their guideline covers all commercial establishment including airline companies.
