Call centre cab runs over man in E Delhi

A 28-year-old morning walker was crushed to death by a speeding call centre vehicle in Geeta colony in east Delhi on Friday. Police said the call centre cab fled from the scene after hitting the victim.
Police said the victim has been identified as Tarun Taneja, a resident of Geeta Colony. He owned a provisions store in Daryaganj.
Police said the incident took place when Tarun was out jogging near a CNG-filling pump near the Yamuna Pushta in Geeta Colony. Around 6.30 am a speeding car belonging to a call centre appeared close to him and knocked Tarun down. Bleeding profusely, he died on the spot. He was rushed to a nearby hospital where doctors declared him brought dead.
A case of rash and negligent driving has been registered at the Geeta Colony police station. Police said Tarun was on his way home in Cheh Vilas in Geeta Colony when he met with the accident. His family has been informed and the body sent for postmortem. “The vehicle has not been traced yet but we have got vital information and would track it down soon,” said a senior police officer.
In another incident, a speeding Army truck crushed to death a motorcyclist in Delhi Cantonment area of southwest Delhi on Friday. The victim has been identified as Krishna Pillai and was on his motorcycle when he was shit by the truck.
The driver fled from the scene after hitting the motorcyclist. He was rushed to the Deen Dayal Upadhyay Hospital where he was declared brought dead. A case has been registered at the Delhi Cantonment police station and investigations are on.
