The police have arrested a call centre worker on charges of setting afire a colleague when she rejected his marriage
proposal.

Abhishek Sharma, 24, was on the run after setting Mandeep, 22, afire in Northwest Delhi's Model Town on Friday. Mandeep is being treated for burn injuries at Maharaja Agrasen Hospital.

The police said around 2 am on Friday Sharma, driving Mandeep to her house in Shalimar Bagh, stopped his car in Model Town and asked her to get off, sparking off an argument.

Sharma then doused her with petrol and set her on fire. He then called the police and fled.
