The Delhi University is in talks with the high commissions and embassies of various African nations as it has launched a special drive to enrol students from these countries.

The university has also extended the last date of online registration for all foreign students to May 31 from April 20 for all programmes expect MBA. Officials said the enrolment drive is aimed at “attracting young foreign students, including students from African countries”.

DU registrar Tarun Das said the university has received very enthusiastic response from the embassies. “They have also shown positive inclination in instituting scholarships for their nationals for pursuing studies at the DU,” he said.

The university’s Foreign Students’ Registry has received more than 300 applications from African nationals. Officials said the university intends to increase this number by providing special attention to their specific needs.

“The University’s mission is to reach international students including those from African continent which will result in strengthening the social, cultural and political ties between the countries,” Das said.

The university offers several programmes at various levels and does not conduct any entrance test for admissions to these courses for foreign students. “These students can apply at fsr.du.ac.in,” said officials.

For Indian students the online registration process for admissions to around 54,000 seats in undergraduate courses in the university will begin from May 22 but the last date to fill the admission form has not been finalised yet.

The online registration process for undergraduate courses, in which an entrance test is conducted, will begin from May 31. DU conducts entrance tests for courses such as Bachelor of Management Studies, BA (Hons) Business Economics, Bachelor of Business Administration (financial investment analysis).

For postgraduate courses and research courses, the online registration will also start from May 31.
