Delhi University is giving its colleges a chance to prove their mettle with the title of ‘best college’ and huge prize money up for grabs.
As part of their annual festival Antardhwani, to be held from February 22 to 24, the university is organising a competition where colleges will get a chance to set up a stall to showcase their best and most unique feature.
The three best presentations will win prize money worth Rs. 10 lakh, Rs. 7 lakh and Rs. 3 lakh, respectively.
Several recognition prizes of Rs. 1 lakh each will also be awarded. There are no categories for the competition and colleges can chose to highlight any area they excel in be it sports, academics or extra-curricular activities.
“The award will help the college achieve its goal. For example, if a college has the talent to set up a literary society or it excels in sports, then the prize money will help take the idea forward,” said Malashree Lal, Dean(Academics), DU.
An independent jury of experts from outside the university will judge the event. “The jury will look at overall quality of presentations and how much work a college has done in the particular field they chose to showcase,” Lal said.
Currently in its second year, the university festival also plans to hold other competitions such as short film-making using mobile phones, the winners of which will be sent to Film and Television Institute, Pune, to learn from the experts.
Other attractions include an International Plaza which will have on display the culture, food and social customs of countries from all over the world and Innovation Plaza where students will get a chance to present the findings of their research.
