On a day the Delhi Police told a city court they were unable to ascertain who gave the money to bribe three BJP MPs in the July 2008 cash-for-votes scam, Lok Sabha speaker Meira Kumar gave her nod for the third MP Ashok Argal's prosecution on Friday.
Kumar's permission came nearly a month after the police approached her, seeking to prosecute Argal, the BJP MP from Bhind in Madhya Pradesh.
Argal was among those who had displayed wads of currency notes in the Lok Sabha on July 22, 2008, hours before the crucial trust vote took place.
He and his party colleagues in the Lok Sabha had claimed that they were paid Rs 1 crore each to vote for the government during the trust vote that day.
Two former BJP MPs, Faggan Singh Kulaste and Mahavir Bhagora, LK Advani's former aide Sudheendra Kulkarni and BJP worker Suhail Hindustani are already in jail in this case.
Former SP leader Amar Singh and aide Sanjeev Saxena have also been arrested.
