Six weeks after HT first reported on the alleged involvement of an Indore-based terror module's kingpins — Sandeep Dange (35) and Ramchandra Kalsangra (35) — in carrying out the May 2007 Mecca mosque blast in Hyderabad, the CBI on Tuesday announced cash reward of Rs. 10 lakh each for information leading to the duo’s arrest.

A HT report published on May 9, had identified Dange alias Parmanand and Kalsangra alias Ramji---both from Madhya Pradesh---as the bomb-makers and bomb-planters in the Mecca blast, the October 2007 Ajmer shrine blast, and the September 2008 Malegaon blast.

According to Tuesday's CBI statement, the details on the duo's roles in the blast emerged during the agency's interrogations of two other case accused -- Lokesh Sharma and Devender Gupta. Rajasthan's Anti-Terror Squad (ATS) had initially arrested Sharma and Gupta in the Ajmer blast case.

The HT report had also said that an accused named Sunil Joshi (now dead), Kalsangra and Dange had "first used" their characteristic bomb technology---used later in the Meeca, Ajmer blast---on December 23, 2003 in Bhopal.

Kalsangra and Joshi had planted the explosive device at a spot near the venue of a Muslim congregation - Ijtema - at Ghansipura but the police defused it.

The CBI has informed a Hyderabad court of Joshi's involvement in the Mecca case.

Information on Dange and Kalsangra can be given on CBI's contact numbers — 011-24360150, 09968081112, 011-24362002, 09968081149 or 09968081243 — or through an email to hobsc2del@cbi.gov.in.
