CBI not aware of security risks of 2G scam: Swamy
Janta Party leader Subramanian Swamy told a CBI special court the country's premier investigating agency is unaware that following 2G-spectrum scam, the country national security is at stake.
Janta Party leader Subramanian Swamy told a CBI special court the country's premier investigating agency is unaware that following 2G-spectrum scam, the country national security is at stake.
Swamy told the court Swan Telecom had offloaded a chunk of its share to a UAE based telecom company, allegedly the den of underworld money.
The CBI said it was "not aware of the details on national security aspect as raised by Swamy."
"The searches and seizures made by the CBI resulted into recovery of a large number of voluminous documents. Various witnesses have also been examined in respect of the facts of the case," the investigative agency told Special CBI judge Pradeep Chaddha.
The CBI, filed a status report in court seeking to ignore Swamy's concern over the alleged threat to national security due to allocation of spectrum to Swan Telecom, a joint venture between D B Realty and Etisalat DB.
The CBI told the court in its probe status report said, "After registration of the case, numerous searches were conducted in the department of telecom, various private companies, besides the residential premises of various public servants and people including Raja".
Chandolia bail plea
Meanwhile, the CBI has told the court RK Chandolia, former telecom minister A Raja's personal secretary, had put-up the file for Unified Access Services (UAS) licenses for allocation of spectrum of certain selected applicants in a particular telecom circle where availability of spectrum was not possible.
The CBI has opposed Chandolia bail plea saying, "Chandolia has also played a vital role in putting up the file of WPC Wing of DoT in allocation of spectrum in a particular telecom circle where availability of spectrum was not adequate to cater the requirements of all applicants".
