More hawala operators have been found involved in the 2G spectrum allocation scam. As part of the probe, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has raided two such operators — Mahesh Jain and Alok Jain alias Bobby — on Wednesday.

Sources say two more Mumbai-based facilitators are alleged to have helped channel the scam money abroad. One of them operated on behalf of some Chinese telecom equipment companies.

Mahesh Jain is said to be close to former telecom minister A Raja, and was a frequent visitor to his house in Delhi. The offices of his firm JG Exports were also raided in Delhi and Chennai.

Sources say Mahesh Jain has a mobile-phone manufacturing factory in Solan. His brother Daulat Jain set up a hotel, Days Inn Deccan Plaza, in Chennai in 2006. Two more hotels have been announced by Deccan Plaza director Nirmal Gadia.

There are also plans to quiz Raja and public relations tycoon Niira Radia again; sources have not ruled out arrests.

Also, during the interrogation of former Telecom Regularity Authority of India (TRAI) chief Pradip Baijal, some contradictions are said to have emerged about the licence policy, and the agency may question some former telecom ministers before February 10, the first deadline of submitting a report to the Supreme Court.
