The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), which is probing alleged irregularities in the conduct of Queens Baton Relay (QBR) in the run up to the Commonwealth Games (CWG) held last October, will send its team to United Kingdom as part of its investigations.

In UK, the CBI team will gather details on the financial transactions of two deals that the Organising Committee (OC) had concluded with the London-based firms AM Cars & Vans and AM Films to conduct the QBR in October 2009.

The two deals were over the installation of three video screens near the Buckingham Palace and logistics including transport facilities.

"The government is likely to approve our proposal to send a team to UK," said a CBI source. The agency has already sent two Letters Rogatory, formal communication sent in writing by the court in which the case is pending to a foreign court requesting the testimony of a witness residing within its jurisdiction, to UK.

"We want to know who had authorised the deal and the payments, which occurred without following the norms," said the source.

The agency is also expected to file a First Information Report on alleged irregularities related to the laying of synthetic, glass, wooden surfaces for competition and training venues of a few sporting disciplines including badminton, squash, lawn tennis and lawn bowls, said the source.
