In a bizzare trade-off, two men kidnapped the five-year-old son of a driver and asked him to kidnap his employer’s son. They planned to demand a ransom from the rich father without being blamed for it, police said. The incident was reported from Neb Sarai in south Delhi.
The driver’s son, Arun Singh, was kidnapped on May 13 this year. The accused were arrested on Saturday.
“After the boy’s father told the police of the kidnapping, a combing operation was launched. Fearing police action, the accused released the boy,” said H.G.S. Dhaliwal, DCP (South).
The two accused have been identified as Aman Singh (26) and Umesh Prashad (35).
“The accused told Singh’s father that they would releas his son if he kidnapped his employer’s son. They planned to settle the ransom themselves. The employer has a property and travel business and lives in Sainik Farms,” said the officer.
Acting on the clues they got, the police traced and arrested the accused on Saturday. During questioning, they revealed they were planning to demand Rs 10 lakh as ransom.
