Two months after the Chandni Mahal building collapse, the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) has initiated disciplinary action against eight officials found guilty of allowing unauthorised construction. In September, seven people were killed and 22 were injured when nearly a century-old structure collapsed.

Apart from disciplinary action against the MCD employees the report has also proposed formation of a policy to identify dangerous buildings and making the structural stability certificate mandatory for all buildings which are more than 30 years old.

The report has pointed out the age of the building and unauthorised construction which may have weakened the structure.
