The draw for the Commonwealth Games badminton competition started two hours late but even after a long wait media had to go back empty-handed from the Siri Fort complex, thanks to the unique laws of the Organising Committee.
The Draw for the XIX Commonwealth Games for the Badminton Team event was supposed to start at 4 pm at the Siri Fort Complex but the media were kept waiting for two hours.
The wait, however, wasn't an ordeal, thanks to the cordial and friendly technical officials and the work force group who were extremely eager to help the media with their queries and also showed them the actual route of entry, which has to be followed for the next 12 days.
Once the draw started after 6 pm, it was soon over as the BWF officials conducted it in front of the team officials of the various countries.
But the draw wasn't distributed to the media, the way it was done for tennis on Friday at the RK Khanna stadium.
When asked about why the draw was not distributed to the media, the competition manager S Muralidharan said it was the decision of the Organising Committee (OC).
"We have specific instruction from the OC not to divulge it to the media. It will go to the OC and then it will be delivered to the media by them," he told PTI.
