Delhiites woke up to a chilly yet sunny morning on Thursday.
The minimum temperature stood at 7.5 degrees Celsius, which is two degrees below average for this time of the year. The maximum temperature, however, was 26.1 degrees Celsius.
On Wednesday, the minimum temperature was 9 degrees celsius, while the maximum settled at 24.7 degrees celsius —both normal for this time of the season.
“There was mist early in the morning but the day, overall, was bright and clear. The temperature, however, dropped in the evening and it was quite chilly,” an official of the India Meteorological Department said.
The evening was chilly with cold winds sweeping through the city and a thin cover of mist covering various parts of the Capital. Most, however, were not deterred by the nippier weather. Vikas Kumar, an employee at a Barakhamba Road firm, felt the best was yet to come. "This is just the start. The real cold wave will hit in a couple of weeks as it does every year," Kumar said.
For Friday, however, there will be a partly cloudy sky, according to a Met department official. “There are not much chances of mist forming on Friday because of the cloud cover, which will provide enough warmth keeping it away,” he said.
The maximum temperature is expected to be around 24 degrees Celsius while the minimum will be 9 degrees celsius, the official said.
