A few unidentified boys allegedly eve-teased a student at the Lajpat Nagar area of southeast Delhi on Monday. Following the incident, a clash broke between the residents of the area in which five boys were injured.

Police said the victim, a resident of Nehru Nagar Colony was returning home after attending her tuition classes when some boys in the area passed lewd comments at her. The victim rushed back home and told her parents about the matter. Soon the neighbours also came to know about the incident and decided to teach the boys a lesson who were believed to be residents of a nearby slum.

“A group of men and women went to the spot and asked the residents of the slum cluster about the whereabouts of the boys which resulted in an argument. The argument turned violent and a minor clash was reported in which five persons were injured,” a police officer said. In the meantime, a PCR call was made by a local person.

“Some people were taken to the Lajpat Nagar police station. Separate cases have been registered against them. We have recorded the statement of the girl,” the officer said.
