A class eighth student has been apprehended for allegedly beating a class tenth student to death in North Delhi on Wednesday.
According to police, the accused had an argument with the deceased Vipin Kumar (16) when Vipin threw water at him while he was washing his car a day before the crime. The incident happened in New Chandrawal area in Roop Nagar.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (North) Sagarpreet Hooda said, “The victim, Vipin was returning home when he picked up an argument with the accused. At the time of the incident, another friend, Mohit Sharma, was with them.”
The victim and the accused resided in the same area.
According to police, a day before the incident, Vipin had been cleaning his father's car. When he saw the accused, he reportedly threw wastewater on him. The accused also allegedly threatened him with dire consequences.
The police said the two used to get into frequent fights. On Wednesday evening Vipin had gone to a nearby market to buy groceries when he was allegedly attacked by the accused.
"They got into a fight and assaulted each other. The accused hit Vipin in the abdomen, chest and face. Sharma tried to intervene but could not save Vipin. He then rushed to the local residents in the area. They finally stopped the fight," added Hooda.
According to police, Vipin collapsed on the spot.
The police said that locals resthen took the victim to Bara Hindu Rao Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. The police said that according to preliminary investigations the victim sustained internal injuries.
"Vipin was studying in class tenth in a nearby government school while the accused who allegedly killed him also studies in another government school in the same area,” said Hooda. “So far we have registered a case of culpable homicide under section 304 of IPC."
