The Class X Math exam went off smoothly on Saturday, with a balanced question paper. Some students, however, said one question was wrong in Set 3.

“The paper was balanced and I could answer all the questions. But one question in Set 3, which is the set I received, was wrong,” said Neha Ahuja, Class X student at Amity International School, Saket.

“If it had not been for that wrong question I could have secured 80/80,” said Ahuja.

Mudit Aggarwal, Class X student of Jaspal Kaur Public School, Shalimar Bagh, was also unhappy about the wrong question. “It was a construction question which I could not solve. I spent a lot of time on it and then became nervous because I was losing time,” said Aggarwal. “But since it was a wrong question, I hope the CBSE will consider that and give us full marks for it,” he said.

Teachers said that the paper was balanced but left little time for students to revise.

“All the one mark questions required calculations and took up a lot of time. So students did not have time to revise the paper,” said Pooja Kalia, Math teacher at Springdales School, Pusa Road.

However, the six mark questions were direct and easy, Kalia said. “The choices were application-based questions and required some thinking,” she said.

Notably, no graph question was given in this year's Math paper. “Graph questions are scoring and help students score a full 100. But this year scoring a full 100 may be difficult,” said Kalia.

Keshav Aggarwal, math teacher at Pyramid Classes, said the paper was not as simple as it appeared.

“It was the choices that saved students, who would otherwise have had a tough time,” Aggarwal said.
