Pawar Shetty, a 50-year-old balloon seller died on Tuesday night due to cold near the Pusa Road roundabout night shelter that was demolished and later temporarily set up by the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) after the High Court's intervention. Shetty died as the temporary shelter was overcrowded and could not accommodate the 250 odd people who had been displaced after the demolition recently.

“The temporary tent that the civic body has erected is merely able to accommodate 40 people. All the rest are forced to spend the night out in the cold. Unable to bear the cold Shetty collapsed on Tuesday,” said Raj Bhushan of Urban Rights Forum, an NGO that works for homeless people in the city. Shetty's death takes the toll due to cold wave to eight.
