A Congress MP has moved the Supreme Court seeking a CBI probe into corruption allegations levelled against the political class by prominent industrialists - Ratan Tata and Rahul Bajaj and Yoga Guru Ramdev.
The MP--Sajjan Singh Verma from Madhya Pradesh--submitted that the allegations need to be investigated thoroughly as the industrialists and Ramdev had "cunningly" and "intelligently" blamed the entire political class without exposing the real "black sheep" in the system to protect their own vested interest.
"They have not only protected the black sheep in politics and government but they have covertly attacked the whole democratic system of governance by defaming the whole political class," the petition said.
Verma was referring to the statement made by Tata in which he said that an individual had thwarted his attempt to enter into aviation industry and he was suggested to pay a bribe of Rs 15 crore to get clearance.
He also referred the statements of Bajaj group Chairman, Rahul Bajaj and Yoga guru Baba Ramdev who had also alleged prevalence of corruption in various governments at the Centre and at the State level.
"That to meet the ends of justice, it is required that these people namely Ratan Tata, Rahul Bajaj and Baba Ramdev be called upon by the CBI to divulge complete information and the information revealed from their interrogation may be investigated," the petition said.
