Congress releases 4th list for UP polls

Congress today released its fourth list of candidates in the crucial Uttar Pradesh Assembly polls, taking the total to around 300 so far.

Senior leaders from the state like Surender Kumar Munni, Rambriksh Trivedi, Sanjiv Mishra and Yogendramani Tripathi have found a place in the latest list of 66 candidates.

The Assembly has a total of 403 seats and the party is yet to announce candidates for several seats. The party has so far announced candidates for 295 seats.

While Munni has been fielded from Ghaziabad, Trivedi would be contesting from Haidergarh, the seat once contested by BJP president Rajnath Singh.

"Mishra and Tripathi have been nominated from Farrukhabad and Bahraich respectively,"said Congress Working Committee member Oscar Fernandes in a statement to the press.

Uttar Pradesh is going for polls in seven phases, beginning April seven.

Todays list contains the name of candidates for second, third, fourth and fifth phase, he said.
