A Delhi Police head constable sustained head injuries after he was attacked by armed miscreants inside a restaurant in northeast Delhi’s Dilshad Garden on Wednesday night.
Two employees of the restaurant were also injured in the attack, police said. The incident took place inside Rasoi Restaurant at L-block in Dilshad Garden L-Block.
Head constable Bijender has alleged that he was attacked by members of a gang led by one Dinesh Pehalwan. “It is alleged that gang members had been eating occasionally at the restaurant for the past five months, but refused to pay the bill.
“They visited the restaurant again on October 22 and had an argument with the restaurant’s owner Harish Gupta when he asked them to pay their bill,” said a police officer.
Gupta in his complaint told the police that Dinesh and his associates arrived at his restaurant to take revenge and allegedly opened fire outside the restaurant, the officer said.
“They entered the restaurant, assaulted the staff and damaged property. In the meantime, Gupta made a call to the police control room. Bijender along with his colleague arrived to control the situation. They were trying to settle the matter the miscreants attacked Bijender and two of the restaurant’s employees — Akhilesh Kumar and Sate-nder Singh,” the officer said.
A case had been registered at the Seemapuri police station.
This was the six incident of policemen being attacked in different incidents across the Capital this year.
