Acting on a contempt petition filed by the Enforcement Directorate (ED), the bench also issued notices against two journalists, Upendra Rai and Subodh Jain, of the Sahara India News Network. All three have to file their response with six weeks.

The notice came after the ED filed a contempt petition against the three asking the apex court to take “suo-motu cognizance”and “initiate civil and criminal contempt” for defying the SC’s earlier order prohibiting any outside interference into the CBI and ED probe.

The petition was filed by assistant director and investigating officer of the 2G scam, Rajeshwar Singh, alleging the CMD of Sahara group had attempted to circumvent the department's summons issued twice against him in the 2G case.

Instead of getting any response from Roy, Singh received a questionnaire of 25 questions from Jain on Thursday evening.

Terming the allegations as “totally concocted, baseless and (leveled) with malafide intention,” a Sahara spokesperson said: “we shall come out with the full story after we get Hon'ble the SC’s permission to do so.”
