A 22-year-old contract killer has been arrested by the anti-auto theft squad of southwest Delhi police. The arrested man, identified as Vikas alias Abu, is an associate of jailed extortionist Dhirpal Kana.
Police said Abu was inspired by the lifestyle of underworld don Abu Salem and was aspiring to establish himself as a gangster in Mumbai’s underworld. He was wanted in the extortion attempt and firing incident at Aggarwal Sweet shop in Deenpur near Najafgarh in southwest Delhi.
Deputy commissioner of police (southwest) RA Sanjeev said Vikas was arrested by a team led by inspector Raj Kumar and sub-inspector Manoj Bhatia following information that he would visit Kana’s house in Najafgarh.
A trap was laid on Old Khaira Road near Najafgarh and Vikas nabbed with a country made pistol and three cartridges.
“Vikas’s interrogation has revealed that he came in contact with Kana in Jhajjar Jail in Haryana a couple of years ago. He was impressed with Kana’s lavish lifestyle so he joined his gang. After coming out from jail he was acting on his directions and used to threaten people for extortion,” said Sanjeev.
