Some unknown assailants stabbed and killed a head cook in a hotel in Anand Vihar area in East Delhi on Saturday. The hotel owner's son and another employee were also attacked by the assailants.
The argument started over a papad, which the assailants reportedly demanded from the cook. The victim, Mohammed Sahid, was stabbed with knives.
The incident happened at Zaika Bazaar Hotel in Dayanand Vihar late on Saturday night.
“A group of four-five people came to the hotel in two cars. While they were having dinner, one of them asked for papad. The rest of the details are sketchy but they called the head cook Mohammed Sahid and had a squabble with him. They then followed him to the kitchen, where Sahid asked them to go out,” said a senior police officer.
Mohit, son of hotel owner Rajesh Dhingra, tried to intervene but failed as after a few minutes they men started fighting and attacked the hotel staff with sharp-edged weapons.
One of the eyewitnesses then called up the police but by that time the accused had already fled the scene.
The three men were immediately taken to Max Hospital where Sahid succumbed to his injuries, while Mohit and Pappu are still undergoing treatment. Their condition is stated to be stable. The police have registered a case.
