The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested a woman sub-inspector of the Delhi police for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs. 40,000.
The arrested police official, Ramo Devi, had allegedly sought a bribe of Rs 40,000 from the complainant in lieu of favouring the former's relative in another case being probed by her.
Along with the arrested police official, who was posted at Mandawali police station in east Delhi, the CBI also nabbed her son, Rahul, for his alleged complicity in the case.
Rahul was caught while accepting the bribe sum of Rs 40,000 from the complainant by a team of CBI officials who had been alerted by the latter.
"After negotiations with the complainant, the accused sub inspector had sent her son to collect the bribe money. We are also scanning the accused official's property details to get an idea of whether she was involved in more such irregularities," said a CBI source.
The sub inspector and her son were remanded in judicial custody till June 15.
