A day after discovering the highly decomposed body of a 22-year-old woman, the Delhi Police remained clueless about her identity. The body was found stuffed in a carry bag at a rented flat in west Delhi's Uttam Nagar on Friday evening.
On their part and as per law, the police are awaiting the lapse of the 72-hour time limit in order to allow the public at large to identify her before cremating her body. Meanwhile, the police have issued a look-out notice for her suspected killer.
"The victim's body is at the Deen Dayal Upadhyay Hospital but her post-mortem has not been conducted yet so that the public at large can come forward to identify her. We have issued a look out notice for Innocent Nwayo, a man of Nigerian descent, who was occupying the flat where the body was found," said a senior police officer requesting anonymity.
Located in Uttam Nagar's Mahesh Nagar area, the said first-floor accommodation, owned by a local resident identified as Gurudev Singh, had been rented out to Innocent Nwayo about two-and-a-half months ago.
The body was found at 4.15pm on Friday when Singh's sister, who stays on the ground floor, went to investigate the source of a foul, rotting smell.
Understood to be a businessman dealing in clothes, Nwayo had reached the Capital in October 2010.
The police is also on the lookout for another man of Nigerian descent who, like Nwayo, has been absconding for at least 15 days. "The man, identified as Michael, used to stay on the floor above Nwayo. We are currently investigating whether he had a role in the victim's murder," the officer added.
