Often being criticised for their rude behaviour, personnel of Delhi police will undergo behavioural training by an NGO.
A special training curriculum has been made for this weekly training programme.
“This includes verbal and non-verbal communication skills and tips, the importance of posture, body language and the art of questioning while creating a trust environment, among other things,” a NGO member said.
Delhi police said this initiative is part of their “citizen centricity initiatives”.
The six-hour weekly training will be conducted by volunteers from GE India and is expected to cover over 300 policemen and policewomen over the next three months.
“Each interaction with citizens is an opportunity for us to make them feel secure and generate trust and confidence in our capabilities. This is really the crux of our citizen centric initiatives,” Delhi police commissioner BK Gupta said.
“We had successfully conducted a similar initiative with the Cyberabad police last year and feel honoured to extend the training modules to Delhi Police. We look forward to getting the opportunity to share some of our learning from the corporate world with the Delhi Police team and also learn from their experiences,” said Sanjeev Jain of GE India.
