Councillors responsible for ironing out issues

Areas such as Malviya Nagar, Saket, Sheikh Sarai and Sarvapriya Vihar together have more than 70 parks. Yet, children can't play there as the parks are ornamental.
There are several small parks in these areas, which are ornamental and have been set aside for those who exercise and walk. If children play, there is a chance these people may get hurt. That is why some MCD schools have large playgrounds where children can play in evenings. But it is true that children need more open spaces to play. There are several projects in the pipeline for which we have tied up with DDA and many other agencies.
Despite beautification, some parks are locked.
Those are not MCD-run parks. All our parks are open to public.
Lighting and poor maintenance are other big problems. RWAs claim they have been writing to the civic agency, but to no avail.
We have taken note of these complaints. But the agency provides funds to individual councillors and it is their responsibility to ensure all these problems are ironed out.
Some neglected parks in areas such as Malviya Nagar have become a den of drug peddlers and miscreants who harass women. Shouldn't there be some form of vigilance in parks?
There must be constant vigil around the parks. But maintaining security is the responsibility of individual RWAs. They must get in touch with the area councillor and local police. We will support them in whatever way we can. We also conduct surprise checks in areas after speaking to local councillors.
