The police have arrested three persons, including a couple, for the murder of a businessman whose body was found in East Delhi on Tuesday.
Ramnath Singla's (51) body was found dumped in his Maruti Swift car outside a park. He was a resident of Safdarjung Enclave's B block.
"The accused have been identified as Sheetal (25), her husband Ravi (26) and their associate Ajay Kumar," said KC Dwivedi, additional commissioner of police (east).
"The focus of the investigation shifted to Singla's personal life in addition to examining his business contacts in Shakarpur area after we got hold of his call records," said a senior Delhi Police officer.
"Further analysis of his mobile call records and local enquiry revealed that Singhla was visiting a woman identified as Sheetal that night," the officer said.
"On sustained interrogation, the trio confessed to the murder and said robbery was their motive. Looted jewellery including three gold rings, one bracelet, R2,04,000 in cash and two mobile phones of the deceased have been recovered from them," the officer said.
During interrogation, Sheetal disclosed that she had known Singhla for the last three years.
