With the Ayodhya verdict and the Bihar assembly elections beginning this month on the agenda, the two-day politburo meeting of the Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M) began in New Delhi on Monday.
"All the members of politburo are attending the meeting," said a party official.
Other than Ayodhya and Bihar, the politburo meeting would also discuss the political situation in West Bengal and Kerala as well as developments in Jammu and Kashmir, he said.
Senior politburo member M.K. Pandhe told reporters before the meeting that the party had improved its position both in Kerala and West Bengal where assembly elections would be held next year.
