As soon as the news of the air crash spread, people from nearby areas rushed to the spot . Young couples and teenagers accompanied by parents were seen eager to catch a glimpse of the wreckage.

Some said those who reached the site early tried to take away some debris with them. Others clicked pictures, recorded videos and some took selfies with the wreckage.

Some young mothers were seen explaining the incident to their children.

Even though paramilitary and police personnel had cordoned off the entire area, hordes gathered at the spot ,taking over even the nearby railway track. “We heard the news on the TV channels and came to see what happened” said Ram Kumar, 56, a resident of Bindapur.

The onlookers also cooked up theories about the incident. Some claimed the pilot deliberately crashed the plane to save the lives of the locals, while some others said it was bird-hit.

“The plane was old and the engine caught fire and led to the crash,” said Sumit Sankhla, sharing his understanding of the reason behind the crash.
