Congress Working Committee is scheduled to meet in New Delhi this evening.
Sources said the meeting has been called to discuss various issues, including the current political situation prevailing in the country and organisational matters.
The meeting is being held at a time when the Congress leadership is actively engaged in consultations with other UPA allies and supporting parties on the choice of the Presidential candidate.
President APJ Abdul Kalam is demitting office on July 24.
The meeting is also expected to take stock of the situation in the wake of the Gujjar agitation for ST status. This would be the first meeting of CWC after the party's debacle in Uttar Pradesh polls.
