With the last date for applying for Delhi Development Authority’s (DDA) much-coveted housing scheme just a day away, the helpline numbers of the land development agency are buzzing throughout the day.
The most repeated query was whether the deadline of December 24 will be extended?
The answer is no.
Though compared to its last scheme in 2008, where applicants had 45 days to submit forms, this time they only have a month. The DDA, however, believed the duration is long enough to submit applications..
With new regulations introduced this time, like the condition of paying the cost of flat from one’s own account and more documents to be submitted, many applicants are wary that they might make some mistakes while filling the form.
“Many applicants have been landing at the DDA headquarters with blank forms asking for help to fill them up,” said a senior DDA official, requesting anonymity.
“People are coming with very basic queries even when information in the brochure is exhaustive and available on our website also,” he said.
“A few days ago a senior official of a central government ministry sent his peon with an empty form to the DDA’s housing department so that it is filled properly,” he added.
DDA spokesperson Neemo Dhar said even though DDA is not accepting forms itself this time, there are counsellors at its headquarters Vikas Sadan to help applicants.
“The counsellors and those manning the helplines answer all questions regarding applying and in case of specific queries, they direct applicants to senior officials,” she said.
Brochures along with application forms are available at select branches of State Bank of India, IDBI Bank, Axis Bank, HDFC Bank, Central Bank of India, ICICI and Union Bank Of India. The brochure is also available on the DDA website www.dda.org.in.
Applications will be accepted till December 24 and the draw will be held by April 2011.
DDA will receive applications from different banks after December 24 and will also pay a processing amount to the banks. After the draw of lots, expec d by April 2011, documents of successful applicants will be verified.
