The Delhi Develop-ment Authority (DDA) has replaced its system of allowing people to meet senior officials on public hearing days with an online system. The new system, however, faced some glitches that resulted in chaos at the DDA headquarters on Monday.
The agency had earlier allowed people to meet its senior officials with complaints on every Monday and Thursday. But since the last fortnight, a new system was put in place on trial basis. Public hearing was stopped but counsellors have been deputed at its headquarter Vikas Sadan's auction hall.
The counsellors now answer all queries. In case of specific queries or complaints, people are given forms and a unique ID and password. They can track their files on the DDA website and if the problem is not solved, they can meet the official concerned after two weeks.
Monday was the first day that the complainants, whose problems weren't addressed, were given time to meet officials. "I was called at 11am but till 2pm, no official was available. I wasn't allowed to meet him at his office," said a complainant.
DDA, however, said that officials were available by 11.45am.
"This system was started to create more transparency in dealing with public, check touts and increase accountability," said DDA spokesperson Neemo Dhar. "There are certain glitches that are being worked out."
DDA believes that people coming with general queries can be helped by counsellors and only specific queries can be sent to the officials concerned.
Instead of two public hearing days, people can now visit the DDA office on any working day. Those who don't get redressal within 15 days or are not satisfied with the reply are given a time slot to meet officials.
