Two more lives were lost on Tuesday on the Delhi-Gurgaon expressway, taking the death toll in the last one year to 80. In three incidents, two persons were killed and one seriously injured at the killer way. While one of the victims who died was a pedestrian, the other two were bikers.
Forty-two-year-old Raj Kishor was killed when a Maruti Esteem car, allegedly driven by a woman, ran over him around 11 a.m. on the expressway.
“The victim was crossing the road near the flyover at IFFCO Chowk when a speeding Esteem car ran over him. We haven’t made any arrests in the case but we have the vehicle’s number and have identified the driver,” said investigating officer Arun Kumar.
The victim was taken to a hospital by an expressway patrol vehicle but was declared brought dead.
In the second incident, a 24-year-old man was crushed to death near Signature Tower at the expressway. The victim, identified as Lekhraj, was on his bike when it was hit by a Tata 407. Due to the impact, Lekhraj fell and came under the rear wheel of the truck. In this case too the truck driver managed to flee.
“We have impounded the truck and are trying to trace its owner,” a police official said who didn’t wish to be named, as he is not authorised to talk to the media.
In another incident, a biker was grievously injured after an unidentified vehicle hit his two-wheeler at the service lane near 32nd Milestone. The victim, identified as Farham, is a resident of Sheetla Colony in Gurgaon and was on his way home when the accident took place.
