Decomposed body of ‘foreigner’ found in Paharganj hotel
The decomposed body of a middle-aged woman, reportedly a foreigner, was found in the room of a guesthouse at Paharganj in central Delhi on Thursday evening. The police said the room was booked in the name of Manzoor Ahmed, a native of Kashmir, and the woman had come to meet him a day ago. HT reports.

"The body of a woman, probably a foreigner, has been found in a Paharganj hotel. We are investigating the matter. The body is decomposed beyond recognition," Aslam Khan, additional DCP (central) said. The manager of the Hindustan guesthouse informed the police after he noticed foul smell emanating from the room.
"The room was locked from outside and Ahmed was last seen on Wednesday morning. The guesthouse manager has no information about the woman. She might have arrived there a night before. The body was recovered from under the bed of room number 203 of the guesthouse," a senior police officer said. Sources said, Ahmed owns a handicraft shop in Paharganj and he was living in the room for the past five years.
The police are collecting details about Ahmed from the guesthouse staff and nearby areas. "The police have detained two guesthouse staff and the guests in the adjacent room for questioning," GK Pandey, guesthouse manager said.
Police suspect the woman was killed two days ago and her body was dumped under the bed. The hotel has CCTV cameras and the police are scanning footage to track movement of Ahmed and the dead woman.
Police have recovered the passport of Ahmed and teams have been sent out to four states to trace him. The body has been sent for post-mortem and a case of murder registered.
