Addressing the House, the LG Tejendra Khanna began and ended his 40-minute address with the Commonwealth Games.

“This year we have the honour to host one of the biggest sporting extravaganza of the world. The government has braced itself to make all the necessary arrangements to make the Games a spectacular event,” he said.

Khanna said two of the four stadiums the government was constructing — Talkatora and Ludlow Castle — were complete. Chhatrasal and Shivaji Stadium, he said, were also nearing completion.

Adding that the road transport would be crucial during the Games to transport the tourists and athletes, Khanna said the government was constructing 24 new flyovers and bridges and 18 new road underbridges, seven of which were complete while the remaining were nearing completion.
