Delhi bands gear up for a musical battle in the city - Samyukt 2017
To take the musical heritage of Delhi Universities a level ahead, Delhi Tourism in association with Kalindi College, is organising Samyukt 2017- Battle of Bands.delhi Updated: Feb 10, 2017 21:07 IST
Get set for a musical extravaganza as Delhi University’s Kalindi college in collaboration with Delhi tourism is organising ‘Samyukt 2017- Battle of Bands’. Musical bands from Delhi and NCR colleges including Hindu College, Sri Venkateswara College, Maharishi Dayanand University, Rohtak, will showcase their talent in the competition.
The bands are happy to have got the opportunity. Mohit Singh, tabla player of Saptak, a band of Hindu College, says, “We are looking forward to play to a live audience here. We started our band just a year ago and we are sure to impress all. We will perform a fusion of Sufiana and Bollywood classical.”
Khwabeeda, a band from Sri Venkateswara college, will also entertain the crowd with their Sufi rock songs. “Though we have performed in several colleges in the past, this battle will be different. We will sing popular Bollywood and Hollywood songs in our own style... Rock On is the song for Delhi crowd,” says Bhupendra Rathore, the lead guitarist.
“Delhi’s colleges are known for their musical traditions at fests and annual functions. We’re taking it up a notch with this musical battle in the city in association of Kalindi College, University of Delhi. They invited 35 entries from various colleges and Universities from Delhi and nearby areas and short listed around 20, who will perform at the Garden of Five Senses,” says Sudhir Sobti, chief manager, publicity, Delhi Tourism.
The winners will also perform at the upcoming 30th Garden Tourism Festival to be held at the same venue later. The musical gala is complemented with a food festival. The delicacies will offer the visitors various flavours of spring .
