A 40-year old businessman was allegedly murdered by his wife and sister-in-law in south Delhi near Vasant Kunj after he tried to rape his wife’s sister in her presence.
The deceased, Kartar Singh, wanted to teach his wife--who was allegedly having an affair with their neighbour Ram Babu --a lesson by raping her sister, the police said.
Enraged, the sisters overpowered him and slit his throat with a sharp object, they added.
The sisters subsequently dumped Singh’s body, wrapped in a jute bag, in a manhole at a park in Vasant Kunj after transporting it in an autorickshaw for five kilometers with Ram Babu’s help.
The crime would have gone undetected had the duo not used their mobile phones while dumping the body.
Phone call records confirmed the sisters' movement from their home to the park and their presence at the scene of the crime, police said.
To mislead the police, Singh's wife even filed a missing person complaint.
Singh’s decomposed body was discovered three days later. Ironically, the police identified the body with the details provided by his wife in the police complaint.
The sisters have been arrested while the police is still searching for Ram Babu.
Kartar Singh – a local grocer in the Rangpuri Pahari locality near Vasant Kunj– lived with his wife and sister-in-law who studied in a Delhi University college.
“The wife had an extra-marital affair with her neighbour Ram Babu. In order to teach his wife a lesson, Singh began to sexually harass his sister-in-law, which culminated in his rape attempt on March 14” said a senior police officer.
