The Commonwealth Games have come to an end but the festivities will continue. And, the Games mascot, Shera, is expected to make a comeback at the events.
Scheduled around the Games, the two months long festival, Delhi Celebrates!, would continue until the first week of November. Although popular events such as the Qutub Festival and Food Festival at Baba Kharak Singh Marg are now over, there are new ones on the offer.
"Delhi Celebrates! began a month before the Commonwealth Games and gradually peaked during the 12-day event," said Rina Ray, managing director of Delhi Tourism and Transportation Development Corporation, which launched the initiative.
"We did not want to end the celebrations abruptly and now the festival will wind up gradually by November."
The special events would begin again from October 19, with Ananya, a dance festival, at the Purana Quila. Well-known artistes would perform at the five-day event.
"Though Delhi Celebrates! will conclude in November, there are requests from different quarters to continue such festivals round the year," Ray said.
Ananya: A dance festival showcasing different Indian dance forms. At Purana Quila from October 19 to 23, every day at 7 pm.
Youth Festival: Performance by college rock bands and school children. Laser and puppet shows. In CP from October 22 to 24 and October 29 to 31.
